Captain’s Corner

We are currently still building this page…

This will be a massive section with all of the information you will need to perform your duties as a captain.

Captains will visit this page to get started, during the season if they need to remember something, etc.

Getting Started

If you would like to signup as a captain, or if you have a team that you’d like to signup on behalf of someone who will captain it, please click on the Captain and Team Registration button to get started.

Alternatively, you can send us message from the Contact Us Menu.

Next Steps

Once we receive your submission of captaining a team, we will log you and your team’s details into our database.

We will then reach out to you with any further questions, and keep you updated on the process of finding opponents for the season, as well as any changes that may need to be made.

A team will be created for you in our league management software and we will have a meeting with all captains, as well as one-on-one’s if needed, to demonstrate the software and how to use it. We will also share with you your duties as a captain.

Once your team is created, you will be ready for signups. We will contact you with the appropriate information to have yourself and your players signup as members and pay the fee for the season. Once signed up, all members of your team will have access to the league management software, but only captains will have admin privileges.

Captain's Duties

Your duties as a captain will be as follows:

  • Communicating with your team members to find their availability for the upcoming matches. This is made much easier than it may sound by the league management software you will be using.
  •
  • Communicating with other captains to determine the best date for each home and away match, and scheduling said match to be played by the pre-determined match deadline. Make-up match weeks are available at the end of the regular season. You can also make up any matches at any point during the regular season.
  •
  • Keeping and submission of scores and lineups. Please keep all scores and lineups for each match (take a picture, etc). You will submit scores after a match is played into the software.
  •
  • Notifying us of any sudden changes to scheduling or situations that would need involvement from First Coast Pickleball to determine an outcome.
  •
  • Best judgement. On the court, it will be your responsibility to understand the rules and make decisions based on your understanding of the rules. We will not be available 24/7 to make decisions, so please make the best decision you can in the moment and continue play. Do contact us about disagreements or rule-breaks, but keep play going unless it must be stopped. We will make a decision and final ruling after the fact. (An example of this would be another team constantly calling the ball out – feel free to ask a third-party or one person from each team to oversee this match and make judgement calls. We hope it never comes to this, but do what you must to keep play going and in the spirit of having fun, then report it to us afterwards.)
  •
  • Make sure everyone is having fun!

The above is not an exhaustive list, but a general overview of what is expected of you. You will receive a much more complete list , as well as the rules before the season starts. We are finalizing these documents at this moment.
